Cops probe Uniondale shooting

Police are investigating an early morning shooting that occurred blocks away from Hofstra University.

Authorities say shots rang out at around 1:30 a.m. Friday at Uniondale Avenue and Midland Street, hitting one person in the leg and body.

Police found out about the shooting from Nassau's ShotSpotter, which uses microphones located around the county to detect gunfire.

Officers who arrived on the scene found the victim in a car fleeing down Uniondale Avenue. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

So far, no arrests have been made.
