Coastal LI residents told to expect flooding

Long Island residents who live on the shores are preparing for some major flooding this weekend.

This weekend?s storm could dump up to 3 inches of rain, but it is the rising tides that will result in flooding in coastal areas.

Town of Islip Director of Emergency Management Richard Gimbl says flooding will be amplified because the snow from recent storms has melted and saturated the ground.

?There's nowhere for the water to drain off at this time so we're going to keep an eye on it,? Gimbl says.

A flood watch is in effect for Nassau and Suffolk counties through Sunday at 7 p.m.
