LIers hit by storm await word from insurers

Long Island residents hardest hit by this weekend?s nor?easter are not only cleaning up the mess on their front yards Monday but also trying to get insurance to cover it.

Michael Barry, of the Insurance Information Institute, says as long as damage is wind-related, it is covered by standard home insurance policies. Comprehensive car insurance will cover a tree falling on a car, he says, once a claim is filed.

Gary Marsicovetere, of Wantagh, says he won?t assume anything is covered until he talks to an adjustor.

Marsicovetere and other homeowners say they?ve been told it may be several days before an adjustor can see them.
