Road closure strands Eaton's Neck residents
After a downed utility pole closed off the community of Eaton?s Neck from the rest of Long Island, residents say they?re worried about what another big storm could bring.
Damage to Asharoken?s sea wall from this weekend?s storm caused the pole to fall over Monday night, making Asharoken Avenue impassable. It?s the only road the 1,500 people of Eaton?s Neck can use to get out of the village.
Asharoken Mayor Pat Irving says the Army Corps of Engineers is scrambling to fix the sea wall to prevent future problems.
The village says police will watch the road and sea wall over the next few days.
