Sources: Levy to announce party switch soon

Sources say Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy could announce as soon as Friday that he is switching parties to run for governor, but Levy is staying mum.

Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy won?t confirm or deny rumors of a party switch, only saying ?stay tuned.?

Levy took a trip up to Albany last week to discuss his political ambitions with members of the state?s Republican and Conservative parties. He told them he would make a stronger candidate than front-runner former congressman Rick Lazio.

New York?s Conservative Party is scheduled to select its candidate for governor Saturday. Republicans won?t choose until June.
