Boy hospitalized after near-strangling

A Holtsville toddler was rushed to Stony Brook University Medical Center Friday after he reportedly became strangled in the cord of a set of blinds.

The boy had been playing with his 4-year-old brother around 2:30 in the afternoon when his neck became tangled in the chains of a window blind.

Police say the child?s father, a corrections officer, was performing CPR when they arrived at the home on Blue Point Road. Responders were able to get a pulse and got the boy to the hospital.

There is no word on his exact condition, but the boy is in intensive care and breathing.
