SPCA, police probe Riverhead farm

Authorities and animal-rights activists are investigating a Riverhead farm after dead animals were allegedly found there.

Dan Palahnuk says he reported the farm to police after seeing the dead animals. Armed with a search warrant, the Suffolk County SPCA and Riverhead Town Police launched an investigation Sunday into allegations of animal cruelty at Sunny Pond Farms.

In a phone interview, the owner of Sunny Pond Farms told News 12 the animals had strayed away from his Sound Avenue farm and died in the most recent snowstorm.
