Protest targets Levy's run for governor

Dozens of demonstrators who oppose Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy's bid for governor say he should instead be focused on reducing gang violence.

"We're tired of plans, we want action," says Legislator Ricardo Montano (D-Brentwood). Montano and many of his constituents who rallied outside the Suffolk County Executive Building say Levy has ignored their pleas to address gang activity.

Levy, a longtime Democrat, announced last week he was switching parties to enter the gubernatorial race. The state Conservative Party has endorsed his opponent, former Rep. Rick Lazio.
