The Commack community is in mourning after Lance Cpl. Justin Wilson was killed in action in Afghanistan Monday.

Wilson?s family members say the 24-year-old was killed when he stepped on an improvised explosive device. His uncle, Bob Galgano, tells News 12 Long Island the Marine was out on a patrol he wasn?t slated to be on when he died.

Wilson graduated from Commack High School in 2004. He had moved to Florida with his family several years ago, where he met his wife Hannah. He joined the Marines last January.

The family says Wilson was supposed to return from his first tour in Afghanistan in May.
