LIers expected to see increase in gas prices

? Long Islanders are facing an increase in gas prices again.

A gallon of gas is currently going for close to $3.00 across the area. According to AAA, the average for regular gas on Long Island is now just under $2.95 and is expected to climb.

One gas price tracking Web site says a station in Lynbrook is already charging $3.17 a gallon for regular.

Last year at this time, Long Islanders were paying 85 cents less a gallon.
