Church crippled by fire to open new center

? Our Lady of Miraculous Medal held a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday for its new outreach center.

The center was destroyed by a fire two years ago. The church's outreach program is one of the largest on Long Island and helps thousands of needy people with food and clothes every week.

Community member says the ceremony was a moment they hope will replace the memories of the day when someone set their church on fire.

Police say surveillance video showed the fire was intentionally set by Wendell Gerald, of Wyandanch.
