LI group holds conference on cyber-bullying

Friday?s long-planned cyber-bullying conference took on new meaning in light of the recent suicide of a West Islip teen.

The Child Abuse Prevention Services? Melville forum was held to help school districts and lawmakers deal with the growing problem. Almost 45 different school districts attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, friends of 17-year-old Alexis Pilkington, who killed herself over the weekend, have expanded their protest of the social networking site FormSpring.me. Students protested outside West Islip High School Friday in hopes of banning the site.

Pilkington?s family does not blame the Web site for her death, but friends say it didn't help the situation.
