Suffolk police tout progress in anti-gang fight

The FBI and Suffolk authorities are touting the arrests of eight alleged gang members as evidence they are chipping away at the Island?s growing gang problem.

Among those arrested Wednesday and Thursday was alleged Latin Kings king pin Angel "King Epic" Cordero. Authorities believe those arrested are connected to recent shootings near a Huntington Station school.

?It is a pretty big hit, it will take a significant amount of time if [The Latin Kings] ever recover,? says Suffolk Deputy Inspector Gerard Gigante.

Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy assures residents in areas like Brentwood, Islip and Wyandanch that similar law enforcement operations are under way in their towns.
