LI supermarkets report Jell-O tampering

(AP) - Police on Long Island are investigatingfour incidents of product tampering reported by localsupermarkets.

Packages of Jell-O brand pudding mix were found tampered withWednesday and Thursday. Suffolk County Police say it appears thepackages were purchased, emptied of their contents and repackagedwith another substance. The items were then returned to the stores.

Preliminary lab tests indicate the substance does not pose athreat to the public.

Nassau County police are investigating a similar incident inWoodbury. The agencies are working together.

Police did not identify the supermarkets involved.
