Levy defends Suffolk crime rates

Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy is accusing local lawmakers calling for more cops of using scare tactics.

Levy says crime figures being tossed around are not entirely accurate.

"The numbers being thrown around by the legislature and PBA are misleading," says Levy. "They are making it seem like things are out of control ? but there are no murders, no rapes."

According to public police records, there were six murders and nine rapes countywide as of March 6.
