Shinnecocks closer to federal recognition

? The Shinnecock tribe is one step closer to building its casino.The tribe has been seeking federal recognition since 1970.

According to Newsday, no one has come forward to object to the tribe's application. The Shinnecocks could receive recognition in June which would allow them to build a gambling hall on Long Island.

There is no word on where the casino would be built.
