More than 40 cats found in Franklin Square home

Dozens of cats have been rescued from a Franklin Square home described as a two-story litter box.

More than 40 cats were found in the walls, ceiling and cupboards at 15 McKinley Ave.

The Hempstead Animal Shelter has taken in 17 cats. Others have been adopted by neighborhood residents.

Neighbor Paul Bas says he believes at least 12 cats are still on the loose.
