Poll: Young adults can't afford a future on LI
More than half of Long Islanders don't believe their children will be able to afford a future here, according to a News 12 Long Island- Hofstra poll.
The survey polled 444 Long Island residents. Of those polled, 56 percent felt their children would flee the Island.
Anne Golob, director of the Long Island Index, feels the trickle of young adults leaving could turn into a flood if something isn't done.
"We have to have affordable housing," she says. "We have to have a place that young people want to come."
