2 officers, suspect injured after car chase

A vehicle pursuit ended Tuesday with two officers and a teen driver injured after he allegedly crashed into a police car in North Bellport.

Police say the incident began when the officers attempted to pull over 19-year-old Kevin Turner. According to police, he refused to pull over and drove off, causing the chase.

Officials say Turner swerved the vehicle into one of the police cars chasing him on Bellport Avenue, causing a crash and injuring the officer. The second officer was injured when he crashed into a parked car while attempting to avoid the collision.

The two officers were not seriously injured and are recovering at Stony Brook University Medical Center. The suspect is in critical condition.
