New Hyde Park burglaries worry residents

North Hempstead residents on edge about a recent rash of burglaries in the area met with police officials Wednesday.

The meeting at a New Hyde Park community center was attended by Nassau County police officials, who told residents about beefed-up patrols and ways to organize neighborhood watch groups.

"It's about doing reasonable common sense things to reduce the likelihood they'll suffer from burglaries," says Deputy Inspector Sean McCarthy.
