Schumer wants new assessment of Lido Beach

? Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) called on FEMA yesterday to immediately reverse its decision to deny federal aid for Lido Beach during November?s nor?easter.

Schumer says FEMA was wrong to claim the beach could adequately protect property and fend off future storms.

According to Schumer, the damage from storms over the last four months is proof that FEMA?s original decision to deny funding to Lido Beach was wrong.

Schumer wants FEMA to bring in the Army Corps of Engineers for a new assessment.

FEMA says the beach itself is not eligible for aid, but it will check the walkways that lead up to the beach again.
