Elmont police fatally shoot pit bull

Police shot and killed a pit bull in Elmont last night after they say the dog's owner released it on them.

Officers responded to reports of a disturbance inside a home on 240th Street at around 11 p.m. When they arrived on the scene, they say Luckelson Frederique sent out his pit bull to attack the officers.

Police confirm the animal was fatally shot in the driveway.

Frederique now faces assault charges while his brother Stanley faces menacing charges.
