Defense gives closing arguments in Conroy trial

? The lawyer for the Patchogue teen accused in the hate crime stabbing of an Ecuadorean immigrant says the prosecution didn't prove its murder case.

The defense delivered three hours worth of closing arguments yesterday on what would have been Marcelo Lucero's 39th birthday. The prosecution is expected to deliver its closing arguments tomorrow.

Prosecutors say Conroy and six other teens were targeting Hispanics when they killed Marcelo Lucero in November 2008.

Conroy is the only one accused of murder and manslaughter as a hate crime. Prosecutors say he inflicted the fatal stab wound.

The defense says none of the prosecution's 25 witnesses saw Conroy with the knife or stabbing Lucero.
