Parents stage 'sick out' in wake of violence

? Families staged a ?sick out? yesterday to protest violence near Jack Abrams Intermediate School.

Dozens of parents kept their kids home from school, fearing for their children?s safety after shots were fired near the school in two separate incidents last month.

?I don't feel safe over there because if there [are] cops cars there, they are there for a reason,? says fifth-grader Jonathan Shechter.

The parents involved in the protest say they want to move their kids into Huntington Town Hall and have town officials moved to Abrams. Town and school officials say they will consider the swap.
