Study: LI below average for economic stress

Nassau and Suffolk counties are less economically stressed than the average U.S. county, according to a study by the Associated Press.

The Associated Press Economic Stress Index calculates a county?s financial stress on a scale of 1 to 100 based on unemployment rates, bankruptcies and foreclosures. The study rated the average county?s score as 11.80 and considers any score over 11 as ?stressed.? For February, Nassau rated 11.24 and Suffolk received a score of 10.63.

Eight of the country?s most stressed counties are in California.
