Kids hit by livery cab in Central Islip

Two Central Islip intermediate school students are recovering after they were hit by a livery cab Monday.

Mario Quintanilla, 13, Kevin Amaya, 11, and another friend were on their way home from Mulligan Intermediate School when they ran across Lowell Avenue. Quintanilla and Amaya were struck by a passing Lincoln Town Car.

The driver tells News 12 Long Island he is devastated. No charges have been filed.

One witness says the driver was speeding.

Amaya was treated for a broken arm, leg and facial injuries. Quintanilla suffered head injuries.
