Oddone gets 22 years in fatal choking case

A Farmingville man convicted in the killing of an off-duty Suffolk corrections officer was sentenced to 22 years in prison yesterday.

Judge Randal Hinrichs sentenced Anthony Oddone after Andrew Reister's widow Stacy gave an emotional victim's impact statement.

"He was a husband, a father, a brother," Stacy Reister said, "You took all of that away; look at me."

Oddone was convicted of first-degree manslaughter in December after he fatally choked Reister in August 2008 during a fight. At the time, Reister was moonlighting as a bouncer at the Southampton Publick House.

Oddone's attorney says she is appealing the conviction and sentence.
