Hempstead raid spurs call for immigration reform

Some immigrants living in Hempstead say they are terrified after a raid at their apartment building ended with one woman being taken away.

Residents say they are extremely nervous immigration agents will return and round up more people. As News 12 reported similar raids ended with several immigrants being carted away, back in 2007.

Advocates will hold a march and rally in Hempstead on May 1 to demand immigration reform. Recently, President Barack Obama has called for a change to the system that includes "common sense, effective strategies to protect our borders?while offering a path to citizenship for hard-working people."
