Fake grenade found in abandoned suitcase

Police say a suitcase was left sitting on a busy street in Patchogue yesterday, prompting an investigation.

Authorities sent in a robot equipped with X-ray technology to scan the suspicious suitcase, which was left on Main Street. According to Mayor Paul Pontier, police secured the downtown area while the robot examined the bag.

An object the shape of a grenade was found, but authorities say it was a fake.

Police have yet to find the owner of the suitcase.
