Official: NY-bound flight reports laser in cockpit

(AP) - A JetBlue Airways official says the pilot of aNew York-bound flight reported what appeared to be a laser directedinto the cockpit of the airplane.

JetBlue spokesman Morgan Johnston said Sunday the plane landedsafely and the incident was reported to air traffic controllers.The pilot was unhurt.

Johnston says Flight 607 from Portland, Maine, was on approachto JFK on Saturday night when the pilot noticed the laser comingthrough the window. The flight landed around 8 p.m.

Johnson says police are investigating.

Representatives for the airport's operator didn't immediatelyrespond to e-mailed requests for comment on Sunday.
