Hospital cleared after hazmat situation

South Oaks Hospital was cleared after 10 employees were treated during a hazmat situation yesterday.

According to fire officials, employees working in a power plant section of the hospital were overcome with fumes and evacuated when a chemical cleaning agent spilled around 7 a.m.

The spill was contained to that area, and the employees were treated for minor injuries. Patients and other employees were not affected by the incident.

No word on how the spill happened.
