Local lotto winners can spend their cash
A judge has rejected Suffolk County's attempt to block a local couple from spending their Mega Millions winnings.
Richard and Mary Morrison, of Miller Place, won the $162 million jackpot in January. However, Suffolk accused the pair of overcharging the county by nearly $1 million when they ran homeless shelters.
The county had hoped to stop the Morrisons from spending the lottery earnings until they paid off the debt.
