Suffolk teens charged with hate crime robbery

Two Suffolk teens are charged in connection with a recent string of hate crime robberies.

Suffolk investigators say 18-year-old Felicia Smith, of Selden, and 19-year-old Sean Allen, of Middle Island, searched for Hispanic men to rob. They allegedly preyed on Hispanics because they believed immigrants carried cash and wouldn't call the cops.

Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota says the pair robbed nine men in Port Jefferson Station, Selden, Centereach and Terryville. Four other Suffolk residents were arrested in connection with the robberies, but were not charged with hate crimes.

Smith and Allen are charged with multiple counts of robbery as a hate crime and are being held on $300,000 bond.
