School reopened after being shut down by fire

Valley Stream North High School students are back in the classrooms today.

The school was evacuated and all classes were canceled after a fire was set in the boys' bathroom yesterday morning.

According to Superintendent Marc Bernstein, alarms went off at around 9:30 a.m. as smoke filled the hallways. He says five staff members were treated for smoke inhalation and the bathroom was badly damaged.

The Arson Squad and fire marshal are investigating.
