Private day camps not welcome in public parks

Nassau County legislators have approved a law this week preventing private day camps from using public parks.

Some residents were upset when private camps used county parks for programs under the Suozzi administration. When Ed Mangano took over as county executive, he announced he wanted to stop the practice.

Since the passage of the new legislation, two day camps had been forced to leave Nickerson Park in Lido Beach and Christopher Morley Park in Roslyn.
