Poll: 54 percent of teens text every day
A new poll shows about 54 percent of teenagers text message their friends every day.
According to the Pew Research Center, that number jumped from 38 percent of teens in 2008.
The same survey also discovered that teenagers prefer texting to talking face-to-face, speaking on the phone and e-mailing their friends. In addition, about a third of all teens send more than 100 text messages a day, with older teenage girls sending the most messages.
Some Long Island teens say they prefer texting because it's faster and more convenient.
