Mystery surrounds death of Selden boy

Police are not sure what caused the death of a 10-year-old boy in Selden yesterday.

The Suffolk County Health Department says preliminary test results completed yesterday and additional tests conducted today have not indicated that there is a public health concern. Further testing is being conducted.

Officers responded to the boy's home on Cherry Street in Selden yesterday morning after his parents found him unresponsive.

The child was pronounced dead at Stony Brook University Medical Center.

News 12 was told the 10-year-old was a fourth-grader at New Lane Elementary School.
