Oceanside residents blast hospital parking lot plan

Oceanside residents are voicing their opposition to a planned parking lot for South Nassau Communities Hospital in the middle of their neighborhood.

The hospital recently bought three homes in the middle of the neighborhood and will soon tear them down to make room for the lot.

Hospital administrators declined to talk to News 12 Long Island on camera, but say the new parking lot will mean fewer patients and visitors will park in front of residents? homes.

Residents say they fear the parking lot will lower their property values.

The first phase of the parking lot project, which involves tearing down the homes, is expected to last about five weeks.
