Parks crews replenishing sand at LI beaches

State work crews are replenishing the eroding shoreline at Long Island beaches, which have taken a pummeling recently because of the storms and heavy rains.

George Gorman, deputy regional director for state parks, says his crews are moving 200,000 cubic yards of sand to Field 5 at Robert Moses State Park and Gilgo Beach.

Gorman says the beach should be good for Long Islanders to enjoy come Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start of summer.
