Family, friends mourn LI Army Ranger

Family members and friends are mourning the death of a U.S. Army Ranger who was killed in action last Friday.

Officials say Sgt. Jason Santora, 25, suffered fatal injuries while battling insurgents in Logar Province, Afghanistan. Santora, who was from Farmingville, had previously served four times in Iraq before his last two tours of duty in Afghanistan, according to his family.

Michelle Bivona, Santora's girlfriend, says he was "the best guy" she ever knew and though he was known for his commitment to his country, she'll never forget his laugh.

Santora's father, Gary, says he can't express the amount of pride he felt for his son.

Santora was awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and the Meritorious Service Medal for his service.
