2 teens accused of shooting Hempstead girl

Two teenagers were arrested for allegedly shooting a Hempstead girl Sunday.

Police say 16-year-old Antoine Redfern and 17-year-old Daniel Duke, both of Hempstead, were charged yesterday morning with assault and possession of firearms.

According to detectives, the 16-year-old girl was walking on Baldwin Road at around 1 a.m. with friends when Redfern fired about five shots into the crowd. The 16-year-old was struck in the abdomen and then carried to safety by about a dozen teens, authorities say.

Detectives say the shooting was retaliation after someone threw a brick at an SUV while all of the teens were at a birthday party in Baldwin.
