School custodian arrested on drug charges

A school custodian is charged with buying drugs in the parking lot of Kings Park High School.

State police arrested the custodian, 46-year-old Karl Dewall and the suspected drug dealer, 36-year-old Parbatie Purpura, last night.

Cops say Purpura was regularly supplying the custodian with crack cocaine, but had no other connection to the school.

Purpura is facing felony drug charges. Dewall is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and loitering.

The Kings Park School District issued a statement saying, "We are cooperating fully with the police investigation. The custodian is not in school. This personnel matter will be handled in accordance with all legal requirements. We want to assure our parents that we are taking all possible measures to ensure the safety of our students."
