Times Square suspect does not appear in court
Faisal Shahzad did not appear in court yesterday, but prosecutors unveiled several charges against him in connection with the failed Times Square bombing.
Shahzad is facing terrorism, use of weapons of mass destruction, use of an improvised explosive device and attempted murder charges, among others. Authorities say he was identified as a suspect in the case after investigators used information found inside the Nissan Pathfinder abandoned in Times Square Saturday night.
Shahzad was arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport overnight moments after he was placed on a "no-fly" list. Authorities say he was attempting to board a plane to Dubai.
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder's office says Shahzad is cooperating in the investigation.
