Nassau deputy attorney killed in crash

A Nassau County deputy attorney was killed Tuesday in Westbury after a stolen vehicle slammed into his car, according to authorities.

Joseph Carney was 61.

Investigators say the operator of the stolen vehicle was 51-year-old Robert Feder, of Huntington Station. According to police, he was driving erratically and ran a red light just before the crash.

A third driver was injured in the crash. He was taken to a hospital, treated and released.

Officials say the car Feder was driving was stolen in November from a Hyundai dealership in Plainview.

Police describe Feder as a "30-year criminal." He is charged with manslaughter and driving while ability impaired by drugs.
