Police: Woman stole attorney's wallet in court

Police say a woman was captured on surveillance video stealing a wallet from an attorney's pocketbook at Nassau County Criminal Court.

According to detectives, 23-year-old Shoma Otto, of Queens, snagged the wallet from inside attorney Roxanne Paquette's purse, which was stored in a cubby hole in a secure area of the courthouse. Otto was escorted through the area moments before the alleged theft because she had a baby in a stroller and couldn't use the stairs.

Police say Otto was making a court appearance for previous charges against her. Detectives are unsure how she made it back to the secure area without an escort. She is being held on $1,000 cash bail.
