Wall of Hope unveiled to honor slain LI teen

A teen who was stabbed to death on a handball court was remembered Friday with the dedication of a new court called the Wall of Hope.

Authorities say Mikey Alguera, 15, was attacked by a gang at Hempstead High School and murdered nearly two and a half years ago. His killers have yet to be found.

Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice says she hopes the publicity surrounding today's dedication will generate new leads in the unsolved case.

Handball has long been a popular inner-city game, but Hempstead High School's athletic director says they've begun an after-school intramural program. He says he hopes it will lead to it becoming an inter-scholastic sport.
