3-year-old OK after falling through gap at train station

? The LIRR confirmed that a 3-year-old girl fell through the gap at the Smithtown train station on Tuesday.

Officials say she was with her pre-school class going on a field trip. The class was getting on the 10:31 a.m. train westbound.

Officials say while the students were lined up to get on the train, the young girl ran off of the line to her mother and fell through the gap.

The girl fell all the way through down to the track below the platform. Officials say someone was able to reach down and pull her back up.

The child was not injured and did not go to the hospital. The child and her class got on the train and continued on their field trip.
