Mortgage rates hit record low

Spring is bringing out more potential home buyers to Long Island, who are attracted by record low mortgage rates.

This week, mortgage rates fell to the lowest levels so far this year. Rates on 30-year fixed-rate mortgages dropped to 4.93 percent from 5 percent just a week earlier.

The current mortgage rate of 4.93 percent is the lowest rate since last December.
