Mandatory prom safety meetings set for parents

? More schools are telling teens they can not go to the prom unless their parents meet with them first.

Officials say Smithtown started the trend where parents had to attend a meeting on drug awareness so their kids could go to the prom.

Now parents in Long Beach and Lynbrook must go to a prom safety meeting.

Many schools on Long Island are reminding parents about new social host laws and the dangers of alcohol, drugs and driving.
