LI family: Flood insurance doesn't cover damage

A Babylon couple says it has been denied coverage by its insurance company for damage to their home caused by a recent flood.

Eugene Rudolph says he purchased flood insurance from State Farm, but the insurance company told him it wouldn't cover the damage, which it says was caused by shifting earth.

Rudolph says the ground underneath his Mitchell Avenue home was washed away by the March 13 rainstorm that pounded the Island, and his home's foundation was left compromised.

Rudolph says he feels duped by State Farm and was never told there were loopholes in his policy. He has filed an appeal with FEMA and says he plans to file a complaint against State Farm.
